St Peter’s SHS To Get First Assembly Hall After 67 Years

St. Peter’s Senior High School (SHS), located in the Eastern Region of Ghana, is set to receive its first assembly hall since its establishment 67 years ago. Founded in 1957, the school has operated without a dedicated assembly hall, instead utilizing the dining hall or playground for gatherings. The Ghanaian government, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, has committed to constructing a modern assembly hall for the school.

St. Peter’s Senior High School, affectionately known as PERSCO, is a Roman Catholic boys’ institution situated in Nkwatia Kwahu, Eastern Region, Ghana. The school was established in 1957 by the Divine Word Missionaries (SVD).

The school includes a football pitch, athletics oval, basketball and volleyball courts, hockey pitch, and tennis courts. PERSCO has excelled in basketball, representing the Kwahu zone in the Super-Zonal sports festivals from 2000 to 2004.

  • Palm Plantations: The school has two large palm plantations providing palm fruits for students and serving as welcoming areas for visitors.
  • School Chapel: The chapel accommodates the entire student body for Sunday mass, led by the School Chaplain or other priest-teachers. The Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese occasionally visits.
  • School Crocodiles: PERSCO is home to two crocodiles, serving as symbolic mascots and tourist attractions. The school’s wildlife club is responsible for their care.
